I always get a little irrationally excited about the first big snowstorm of the season. I always think "This is the year that ski season starts in November and goes through April!" Of course, I am usually disappointed. Not by the amount of the snowfall, mind you. We always get the snow, but instead of sticking and building a great base, it invariably melts and we get a month of mud and frozen ruts in the ground before the snow starts sticking for real. I suppose it's for the best as I haven't yet staked the driveway in preparation for plowing and snowblowing anyway.
